Key Trend #1: Overall interest in catamarans is growing, as we noticed a 28% increase in searches for this boat type in 2022 compared to 2021.

If you’ve been thinking about purchasing a catamaran, you are not alone! Searches initially saw a sharp increase during the summer of the pandemic in 2020, and have continued to increase year after year. Searches have increased 2.9x in 2022 compared to 2018.

From the data, we see people’s search behavior, and from it, we understand that interest levels are only increasing. We clearly see that since 2017, August has consistently been the month for the highest number of power catamaran searches, indicating that the summer season inspires people to intensify their search for boats.

As interest in this boat type grew over the last couple of years, manufacturers are releasing more power catamarans that can appeal to buyers with more selective taste. The power catamaran is transitioning from a simpler boat, to a coveted luxury item with more space and features to enjoy being on the water.
